Late Summer Cold Front on the Way!

Oklahoma has received a lot of rain this summer, but they're finally about to share with us later this evening.  A cold front is forecast to move into North Texas later today and will be the focus for scattered showers & storms.

Rain chances will be low for most of the day, but after 4 or 5pm this evening we are expecting better coverage of rain.  If you live north of I-20 you have a better chance for storms earlier in the day.  In the Metroplex, the best rain chances will be later tonight.

Overnight, as the cold front continues to slog through the area, rain chances will peak in North Texas.  Some of the storms could be strong with gusty winds and frequent lightning, but the overall severe weather threat is low.

During the day Wednesday, the cold front will still have legs and move into Central Texas, taking the best chance of rain with it.  There still will be lingering rain in the DFW area, especially during the morning hours.

With the higher rain chances and northeast wind, temperatures will be quite a bit cooler starting Wednesday.  The cooler air will stick around into the weekend, with temperatures below normal through Sunday.  Triple digit heat missing and that's a good thing, we'll save a bit on the energy bills.
