Last Minute Shoppers Crowd North Texas Stores

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Last minute shoppers crowded in North Texas stores.

Just three days before Christmas, many shoppers made the mad dash to the stores to buy last minute gifts.

According to a survey by Consumer Reports, 132 million Americans still haven't done their Christmas shopping.

Hoping to rebound from the recession, stores are pulling out all the stops by offering deep discounts and extending store hours.

JCPenney and Target at staying open until midnight until Sunday.

Toys "R" Us stores nationwide are open 24 hours until 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Macy's is opening up for 48 straight hours at most of it's stores this weekend.

Retailers are hoping to target those procrastinating shoppers who are just getting started.

"We open at 7 a.m. so we really want to make sure that we are taking advantage of all the customers who work a second shift, or a third shift," said Nic Hohne, a store manager of a JC Penney Store in Dallas.

Shoppers like Rosemary Sanchez say the extended hours really help.

"I work like everybody else," she said. She planned to shop all day.
