Large Benbrook Home Destroyed By Fire

BENBROOK, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A large Benbrook home was destroyed fire on Thursday afternoon. As Chopper 11 arrived over the two-alarm fire, flames could be seen rising from the home in the 4900 block of Corriente Lane.

High winds could be seen blowing heavy, dense smoke as fire officials worked to douse flames at the 7,800 square foot home. Tarrant County assessed the value of the home in 2017 at $1.67M.

As Chopper 11 arrived on the scene most of the second floor of the home was engulfed in flames.

At least nine fire engines and approximately 75 firefighters were pouring water on the fire from various directions at one point.

The Fort Worth Fire Department assisted the Benbrook Fire Department on the call.

There is no word yet regarding a cause.

Two people were inside the home when fire stared and got out safely. It's possible some pets didn't make it according to Tarrant County Fire Marshal Keith Ebel.

Preliminarily it appears the fire started on the outside of the house.

Wind was a big concern but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to any other homes.

"Of course, anytime we're worried about embers going further out from the fire scene itself and catching other exposure on fire but we didn't have that issue," said Fire Marshal Ebel.
