Lanes Shift On Hwy. 183

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - Left to right may seem like a simple switch. Nine months ago though it turned years of habit into a confusing configuration for drivers on the Airport Freeway. Now they get to go through it again.

Saturday night crews will begin moving traffic lanes so that drivers on eastbound 183, will exit to the right to get on northbound 121, instead of exiting left. Bluebonnet Contractors admits that when it was moved the first time in January, drivers had a rough time with it.

"At that time we had a lot of confused drivers who didn't pay attention to the signs and didn't realize that that exit was temporarily in the left hand lane," said spokesperson Lara Kohl.

This time signs started going up earlier, warning drivers about the change back to the original configuration. New lanes on a new bridge will be the permanent new route for drivers headed from Fort Worth toward Grapevine and the north entrance to DFW Airport.

Crews are two years into the 13.5 mile, $2.5 billion North Tarrant Express project, still on time for completion in 2015.
