Lancaster Resident Says He Shot & Killed Teen Intruder

LANCASTER (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Lancaster are questioning a homeowner who said he shot and killed a teenage intruder . The Dallas County Medical Examiner has identified that teen as 19-year-old David Franco-Ruiz, also of Lancaster, but few other details about this incident have been revealed.

The Lancaster homeowner, who police have not identified, called authorities to the scene, located in the 100 block of Fourth Street, just before 7:00 p.m. Thursday night, saying that he had just shot and killed an intruder in his house. The body of Franco-Ruiz was indeed found shot inside the man's home.

Late Friday morning investigators said it does not appear that either robbery or burglary was a motive, but they aren't sure what prompted Ruiz to enter the home.

According to witnesses, Ruiz was dropped off Thursday evening to visit his brother, who lives a few

homes down from the house where the teen was shot. Lancaster police say Ruiz had not had any run-ins with the law in the past.

Investigators have not discussed the events leading up to the shooting, such as where the homeowner found Ruiz, if the homeowner was inside of his home when the teenager entered, or if Ruiz was armed at the time of the shooting.

There has been no word yet on whether or not any charges will be filed against the homeowner.
