ARLINGTON(CBSDFW.COM) - It's one of the few area lakes open on the Fourth of July after many are still dealing with flooding or flood damage.  Lake Arlington is open for business.

Park officials describe it as "crazy busy" all day.

It's not just a lot boaters.  It's a lot of people who just want to spend day next to the water.

The Gallaga family set up their tents at 4:00a.m. to ensure they had a spot in the shade and next to the water.  Other families found spots next to the parking lot.  Some even in the parking lot on grass medians.
Basically anywhere that there is shade out here - you'll find a picnic.

"We are times ten of what we would normally be, because our parking lot up at the front is packed," says GUy Scruggs of the Arlington Parks Department.  We have been filling up since 8:30 - 9:00 this morning."

"You have a lot more traffic. You have a lot more people that come here from other lakes and they are not familiar with other lakes so we are constantly trying to tell everyone boat safely because we want you to come back," says Scruggs.

Both the Arlington Police Department as well as the city's parks department had extra crews patroling the water Saturday.
