ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Many holiday boaters were feeling a little frustrated on Monday because, despite their hopes for a Memorial Day on the lake, most boat ramps were closed after several days of heavy rain. And there is even more rain in the weather forecast for Monday afternoon.

But the ramps were open at Lake Arlington, even though water from the lake has come up to the parking lot.

Boat after boat hit the lake on Monday morning. Lake Arlington has two ramps, and they were both open. Boaters said that they normally launch from about 50 feet further down the ramp.

Some boaters said that Lake Arlington was not their first choice for Memorial Day, but it was worth the drive when the other lake ramps were found to be closed after days of rain. "There is no other lakes you can get into right now," boater Greg Shimanek said. "This is one of the few lakes you can still fish. It's close to being shut down, but it's not quite yet."

With more rain coming Monday afternoon, boaters hoped to get a few hours before Lake Arlington closes down as well.

"With as much rain as we've had, they are going to close them down for public safety," said boater Larry Weishner. "I'm an avid fisherman and I want to be out there fishing. It is what it is."
