Kyle Field To Become 'The House That Johnny Built'?
COLLEGE STATION (CBSDFW.COM) -- Johnny Manziel has moved on from Texas A&M, but university officials are looking for a way to keep their Heisman quarterback's legacy around.
University regent Jim Schwertner said on Monday that he hopes that Kyle Field is one day renamed "Kyle Field: The House That Johnny Built", according to the San Antonio Express News.
Manziel won the Heisman Trophy in 2012, becoming the school's first winner since John David Crow in 1957.
"I hope the Aggie Nation will come together and decide that's something they want to do," Schwertner said.
The regent argues that, without Manziel, the school would never have been able to raise the $450 million needed for the stadium renovations.
The stadium is currently undergoing a $450 million renovation that will increase Kyle Field's capacity to 102,500 for the 2015 season. The school is also installing the largest video screen in college football, a 47-feet high and 163-feet wide LED video display with 1080 resolution.
According to ESPN, Manziel applied to trademark the phrase "House That Johnny Built" earlier this year. However, ESPN also reports that Manziel's friend, Nathan Finch, already owns the trademark.
Manziel was drafted No. 22 overall by the Cleveland Browns in last week's NFL Draft. He currently owns the top-selling jersey among all rookies.
