KT At Super Bowl 48, Day 1
NEW YORK CITY (105.3 THE FAN) -- Covering my first ever Super Bowl week is going to be a thrill no matter what happens. Whether I am mugged by ruthless gangsters, or beat up by an angry hobo that I try to interview, it'll all be great. It's the best event of the year. Even though I won't be at the actual game, I thought it'd be fun to document some of the fun times from the trip.
We arrived on Sunday afternoon and had a fun night of beers with the whole staff. We all kind of mixed and matched and ran off with different crews, while also having periods of the night with some of us in different bars. There's just so much to do and see here in the city, and contrary to popular belief, our hours are actually pretty long and stressful.
Nothing was more scary than the ride to the hotel from the airport, in which a 77 year old racist cab driver took us on a joy ride. I'm rooming with Jeff Cavanaugh, and before we had even checked into our hotel room, he had made conversation with two lovely ladies, who we later discovered were lesbians. Needless to say, the whole crew all let it hang out pretty good on Sunday night, because we had gained an hour due to the switch in time zones, which extended the night.
Monday on Radio Row seemed pretty successful, even though we all know that Monday is usually the slowest day of the week. I love when all the shows mix with each other. Super Bowl week allows us to do that a little more than usual.
For me, I've never been a guy that cares about logistics. I know I should, but I'm far from a radio professional and really have no desire to be a radio professional. The play on words and uncomfortable chemistry while talking with other shows is really honest, and I think people, especially in the great state of Texas can relate to that well. We're just dudes talking. We're working hard I promise, but at the heart of it we're just dudes and we're going to do our best to make this week as entertaining as possible.
