NOTE: North Texas is expecting rain and chilly temperatures through the weekend. If you are planning to attend one of the area's outdoor activities, you might want to check that event's website before you leave the house. Plenty of events will likely see delays or cancellations due to inclement weather.

The Highland Park Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Highland Park's Big Pecan Tree is tonight. (12/2)At 6:00 PM, come enjoy a live reindeer, face painting, Christmas treats, a photobus, and a special North Pole mailbox to get letters to Santa quickly.

Magic Men LIVE at the Bomb Factory tonight (December 1) and Friday night (December 2).

The Magic of Christmas Light Show Spectacular in Grapevine is December 2 through January 8.

Check out the Vitruvian Lights Display this weekend through January 1st at Vitruvian Park. Millions of sparkling LED Lights are wrapped around more than 550 trees.

Prairie Lights at Lynn Creek Park is Friday December 2 through January 1. 4 million lights set along 2 miles of path. Hundreds of ALL-NEW displays in shapes of all kinds line and arch over the roads. Half way through the drive get out of your car for a stop at Holiday Village where you will find food, gifts, Santa, the all-new indoor laser show, and the Holiday Magic Lighted Walk-Through Forest. Once back in your vehicle, the second half of the drive ends with the very animated light tunnel – the perfect finale to a night you will never forget!

The Farmer's Branch Tour of Lights is Friday December 2 through December 30 at Farmers Branch Historical Park. Millions of twinkling, festive lights beckon thousands of visitors throughout the season to come to the Farmers Branch Christmas Tour of Lights, now through December 30.

The Denton Holiday Lighting Festival is Friday at Denton Courthouse Square. (12/2)

The Allen Christmas Tree Lighting is Friday December 2 at Allen Civic Plaza.

The Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway is Friday December 2 through December 30. Check out the two-mile drive of light displays throughout the speedway. This year's "Gift of Lights" is bigger and better than ever. During the drive, guests will enjoy more than 150 new light displays and more than a million more LED lights than last year, bringing the total of LED lights to three million.

Reliant Lights Your Holidays is Saturday December 3 at ATT Performing Arts Center.

The Arlington Holiday Lights Parade is Saturday December 3 in Downtown Arlington.

The Twinkle Light Boat Parade is Saturday December 3 at Twin Coves Marina. 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. If you're looking for a different sort of Christmas parade to float your boat, make your way to the Twinkle Light Boat Parade. You will find water crafts decorated in all of the finest sparkling lights to celebrate the season. This floating festival begins at Twin Coves Marina and picks up entries at each marina including Scott's Landing and Silver Lake. The parade is visible from the shores of Lake Grapevine. This event is free.

The 29th Annual Dallas Children's Health Holiday Parade is Saturday morning. (12/3)

The 44th Annual Richardson Christmas Parade is Saturday December 3 at Richardson Square Mall. The parade will begin at 9:00 AM and will travel north from Richardson Square shopping center.

The 47th Annual Rockwall Christmas Parade is Saturday December 3 at Rockwall Downtown Square. Lane Yudizky, a Pullen 4th grader, won the Rockwall Christmas parade poster contest.  In addition to having his artwork used to promote the 47th annual Rockwall Kiwanis Christmas Parade, Lane will also serve as Parade Grand Marshall.

DeSoto's Hometown Holiday Parade is Saturday December 3 at Desoto Town Center.

Klyde Warren Park's Holiday Celebration is Saturday. (12/3) Free photos with Santa, face painting and kids holiday crafts throughout the day. Then stay for our new holiday show at 5:45 p.m., culminating in the tree lighting at 6 p.m.

The Brick Universe Lego Fan Expo is Saturday at the Fair Park Auto Building. (12/3)

Saturday, check out the North Texas Toy Show at Valley View Center in north Dallas.

The DFW Tamale Festival and Christmas Market is this Saturday at Dallas Farmers Market. (12/3) They'll have local vendors, seasonal drinks, a kid zone, delicious tamales, carolers, and get your picture taken with Santa! Oh yeah...it is free!

Experience Christmas at the White House tomorrow through January 8 at the George Bush Presidential Library.

Penguin Days 7 dollars Zoo Admission at the Dallas Zoo is now through February 28.

The Holiday Elegance Holiday Home Tour is Friday through Sunday at Dallas Women's Forum. (12/2-4) at the Historic Alexander Mansion. Alexander Mansion is one of only two remaining mansions on Ross Avenue built at the turn of the 20th century

The Heritage Guild of Collin County Holiday Tour of Homes is at Chesnut Square Historic Village Saturday and Sunday (12/3-4).

Check out Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Over Texas Friday through January 2.

Holidays at the Harbor is Friday December 2 at Harbor Rockwall.

Arlington Music Hall's Christmaspectacular is at Arlington Music Hall Friday December 2 through December 11.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra Christmas Pops is at the Meyerson Friday December 2 through December 18.

Texas Ballet Theater's The Nutcracker is at the Winspear Friday December 2 through December 4.

Experience a Rockefeller Christmas at the Majestic Sunday December 4. The show stars American Ballet Theatre's Arron Scott and features jazz dancing, tap dancing, singing and Act II of The Nutcracker! 2 matinees, one day only December 4th at the famous Majestic Theatre. Ages 4 to senior.

The Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas Tour 2016 makes a stop at the Verizon Friday December 2.

Dolly Parton is playing Verizon this Saturday night. (12/3)

The 7th Annual Blue Christmas Chili Cook-off is Saturday December 3 at Irving Heritage Park. Proceeds provide new toys and food to families in need during the holidays through the Police and Fire Departments.

Have breakfast with Santa this weekend and through December 23 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

The Bishop Lynch High School Christmas Bazaar is Saturday December 3 at the high school.

Celebrate Christmas at the Farm this weekend and through December 18 at Country Critters Farm.

Operation Kindness Pet Photos with Santa are Saturday December 3 through December 11 at the Kindness Klubhouse. On Saturday, Dec. 3, Sunday, Dec. 4, Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., pet parents are invited to the Kindness Klubhouse located at 13394 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75240 for holiday photos with Santa. Dogs, cats and the whole family are invited to sit on Santa's lap to pose. A helper will snap 10-15 photos per session. Pet parents can choose to have their favorite photo framed in a 4"x6" format for $15, or receive a 4"x6" framed photo and a thumb drive with all of the photos for $25. These photos make great holiday cards, and all proceeds benefit Operation Kindness. Founded in 1976, Operation Kindness is the original and largest no-kill shelter in North Texas.

The Wylie Arts Festival, Tree Lighting and Parade is Saturday December 3 at First Baptist Church Wylie Event Center.

The Merry Main Street and Tree Lighting is Saturday evening in Frisco at Frisco City Hall. Parents and children can shop for gifts and great holiday decor, while enjoying an evening of musical entertainment, holiday activities, and an array of food and warm drinks.

Check out Bird's Christmas Tree at Fort Worth Botanic Garden Saturday December 3. Children of all ages are encouraged to make biodegradable bird treats ahead of time and bring them to the event to hang in the garden's Grove, providing food for wildlife and a little holiday cheer. Decorations can be made from fruit, peanut butter, nuts and other food items. This free event, complete with music and entertainment, was begun in 1935 and is one of Fort Worth's oldest holiday traditions.

Christmas in the Stockyards is Saturday December 3 at the Fort Worth Stockyards. It will go on, RAIN OR SHINE!

Forney's Christmas on Main is Saturday December 3 in downtown Forney.

There is a Holiday Extravaganza at Irving City Hall Saturday December 3. The wo-part event, begins with a 4 p.m. community parade through the Heritage District.  The parade is followed by a stage show outside of Irving City Hall at 5 p.m. At approximately 6:20 p.m. the official city tree will be lit, immediately followed by a fireworks display from the roof of the Irving City Hall parking garage.  Attendees are discouraged from bringing pets to this portion of the event, due to the loud and startling nature of fireworks.

 The Colony's Holiday in the Park is Saturday December 3 at Colony 5 Star Sports Complex.

It is Christmas in the Park at Westlake Park this Saturday and Sunday. (12/3-4)

Sunday December 4 it is Christmas with Krampus at Dark Hour Haunted House from 1 PM-4 PM. This event is a Toy Drive & Car Show! Bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys-for-Tots- we can't guarantee it will get you off the naughty list, but it certainly can't hurt. While you are at it, check out some awesome grown-up toys found on the Dark Hour parking lot presented by Hot Boats Down South.

Celebrate the Christmas season at The British Emporium at a traditional Christmas Open House.  Father Christmas, the personification of Christmas in Britain, will be on hand to greet the children. This event is free and open to the public. A Very British Christmas includes a sampling of mince pies, Christmas cakes and festive food and drink – all of which will be available during the open house.

Lonestar Christmas at the Gaylord Texan is happening now through January 1st. You' see holiday displays with more than two million twinkling lights and larger-than-life decorations. Enjoy ICE! Featuring Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, Cookies & Milk with Mrs. Claus, The Elf on the Shelf® Scavenger Hunt and other Grapevine holiday events to get you in the spirit of the season!

ICE! 2016 Featuring Santa Claus is Coming to Town is at the Gaylord Texan now through January 1. Learn how Santa Claus started giving toys to good girls and boys in the retelling of the classic television special, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. Our ice sculptures and ice slides are fun for the whole family and part of Lone Star Christmas events at Gaylord Texan Resort.

Football-sized gems, show-stopping birds who strut their stuff, dry ice, liquid nitrogen, acorn dissecting, dancing corn and "blubber" gloves are among the Perot Museum of Nature and Science's festive lineup of holiday happenings. This holiday season, check out the groundbreaking Birds of Paradise exhibition, the Giant Gems of the Smithsonian and their holiday happenings including extreme 3D films, a "winter wonderland" sleepover, free cocoa with any dessert purchase in the Café (Dec. 1-31), Discovery Camps, special activities and family programming, plus extended hours during the Thanksgiving and winter breaks (at select times).

Check out Santa and his Elves at 470 feet at Reunion Tower this Saturday November 26 through Christmas Eve. Santa and his elves are spreading holiday cheer with weekly trips to the GeO-Deck. Guests can enjoy photos with Santa, a balloon artist and tasty treats from Cloud Nine Café!
