Kornet Earns All-America Game MVP Honors

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – On the eve of No. 1 ranked Baylor's Final Four semifinal game tonight against Stanford, the city of Denver was the showcase for high school All-Americans on Saturday, including four from DFW schools.

Argyle Liberty Christian's Nicole Kornet, who has signed to play college basketball at Oklahoma, earned Navy team MVP honors as she scored 12 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and registered 3 steals in the Nike WBCA High School All-America game played at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Point guard Moriah Jefferson, a Connecticut recruit who led the THESA Riders to their sixth straight Home School National Championship last month, tallied 4 points, 4 assists and 3 steals to help lead the White squad to a 74-62 victory.  Jefferson is the No. 2 ranked recruit in the nation.

Joining Kornet on the Navy team were Irving MacArthur's Alexis Jones, a Duke signee, and DeSoto's Jordan Jones, who is headed to Texas A&M in the fall.  Alexis Jones scored 11 points while Jordan Jones added 5 points and 3 steals.

Kornet, the daughter of CBS 11's Tracy Kornet, joins a select group of past WBCA All-America Game MVP's that includes Baylor's Britney Griner, Stanford's Chiney and Nnemkadi Ogwumike, and UConn alums Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi.
