Koreans Across North Texas Watching Events Back Home
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Despite being thousands of miles away, Korean natives living in North Texas are concerned about events unfolding in their home country.
Steven Sohn owns a restaurant in North Dallas called Hibashi, and a whole-sale jewelry company that does business with stores all over the country. Sohn says he has decided not to travel to South Korea for Christmas as he had planned.
"I don't like to fly out right this moment for safety issues" Sohn says. "We don't know if they're going to attack again or not."
Christi Lim, the manager of Sohn's restaurant, says she believes North Korea attacked South Korea Tuesday in order to force South Korea to supply more food staples for Kim Jong-Il's army. Analysts suspect it was an attempt to raise North Korea's bargaining power before disarmament talks begin.
Sohn and others are concerned that the conflict will escalate. "If they do (attack) again, then it's going to be real war starting, I think" says Sohn. "We don't want any more war."
