Komen Says Thanks, But No Thanks To Porn Donation
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The embattled Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation has lost more than a few donations after a tumultuous year that included a shakeup of management.
But a pledged donation from a website was quickly met with a "thanks, but no thanks," from the group.
October has become known as breast cancer awareness month, and a pornography website was looking to raise awareness and eyebrows by doing more than showing pink ribbons.
The website offered a donation to Komen each time a video showing breasts was viewed.
Komen politely declined, and spokeswoman Andrea Rader said the 30-year-old Dallas-based non profit and the website in question had never been paired.
Rader says Komen has also asked the website to stop using their name. In a press release given to the Huffington Post Thursday, the website said they have changed their breast beneficiary, and welcomed other breast cancer foundations to join with them to raise awareness.
