Khloe Kardashian Kicks Off Dallas Radio Show
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Reality television star Khloe Kardashian started her new day job on Monday afternoon, as the host of her own hour-long radio show on Mix 102.9 in Dallas. The show started at noon with an enthusiastic "Hey, dolls, it's Khloe!" before she started spinning tunes.
The commercial-free show – dubbed "The Mix Up" – will air every weekday and features a variety of celebrity interviews, questions from listeners and hit music.
Khloe's first song was current iTunes chart topper "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" by North Texas native Kelly Clarkson. Afterward, Khloe conducted her first phone interview with "good friend" Kyle Richards of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."
Khloe recently moved to Dallas from Los Angeles when basketball player husband Lamar Odom was traded from the Lakers to the Mavericks. She and her hit television show have since taken North Texas by storm, attending Mavs games and visiting local hotspots with family – and cameras – in tow.
A listener called in to ask Khloe about what she missed from Los Angeles and likes about Dallas. "It's scary being lifted out of your home," Khloe said, "but I have never felt so loved and welcomed." She misses her family the most, she said.
Another caller gasped "Oh my God, I'm so excited. I love you so much," before asking the host to a "drag club" in Dallas. Khloe agreed to go, if the club hosted a "Khloe Kardashian look-a-like contest" on Saturday night.
The hour also featured an interview with Khloe's brother, Rob Kardashian – she forgot his middle initial and razzed him about his exercise and eating habits – and a collection of Mix songs by artists like Katy Perry, Coldplay, OneRepublic and Taylor Swift. Khloe's mother, Kris Jenner, sat in the studio throughout the hour, offering her daughter support and very rarely adding a comment.
The multitasking Khloe even tweeted while on the air, personally thanking her followers for supporting her new hosting gig. "You guys are going to make me cry!!! All of your support is so emotional!!! Thank you guys," she tweeted, "for being so sweet and for listening to my show!"
