Kennedale To Host 'Largest CHL Class Ever' For Teachers
KENNEDALE (CBSDFW.COM) -- Billed as the "largest CHL class ever," Kennedale High School will host a one-day concealed handgun license course for up to 1,000 Texas school teachers.
The seminar, which will begin on April 6, will be held in honor of fallen Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who was gunned down at a firing range in Erath County in February.
Special guests will include Kyle's wife, Taya Kyle, as well as George P. Bush and a group of Navy SEALs.
The seminar is open to any public or private school teachers -- preschool and K-12 -- as well as any other school employees with valid IDs. The event is capped at 1,000 people. A $10 gun range fee is due at registration, and enrollees must provide their own ammo.
While the event is geared for educators, event organizers are making the seminar's purpose clear.
"This forum is not an attempt to persuade administration to form a weapons policy. It is only to present the facts and bring better education and personal confidence to an issue that is often misrepresented."
The lead instructor for the seminar will be Dalworthington Gardens Police Chief Bill Waybourn.
