KENNEDALE, TX (CBSDFW.COM) - Victims of a deadly shooting at a home in the 1000 block of Belmont Drive in Kennedale have been identified.

Officials with the city alleged that, at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 46-year-old James Short shot and killed his wife 47-year-old Amy Short before turning the weapon on himself and taking his own life.

Police said they found a note "referring to a marital issue" at the scene that was alleged to have been written by the husband.

Officers were dispatched to the reported shooting where they were met by a resident who said he was called by a family member about a shooting at the home.

The officers used the resident's key to go inside and found the Shorts deceased.

Police said they found a gun at the scene and there was no sign of forced entry.

The identities of the victims have not been made public yet.
