McKinney Chiropractor Guilty Of Sexual Assault
MCKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - A McKinney chiropractor was convicted late Tuesday on multiple charges of sexual assault and indecency after marathon jury deliberations in a Collin County courtroom.
David Allen Russell had been charged with 13 separate counts in five cases -- most of them involving young girls. He was found guilty of five counts including the sexual assault of a child. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday.
Jurors began deliberating Russell's case around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning and finally reached a decision after 11:15 p.m. Thursday night. The jury was made up of eight women and four men.
Members of the chiropractor's family appeared to be visibly upset after the verdicts were read, while several of the victims' families sobbed in court.
Police said that many of Russell's victims were students at the Taylor Dance Studio in McKinney, which is owned by his girlfriend. The accusers said that his treatments involved inappropriate contact and, in some cases, graphic language describing the acts as they happened. Russell claims that he treated the girls for injuries and did not do anything wrong.
Russell was arrested three times as the allegations continued to come forward during the investigation. His medical license was also suspended.
