Judge Advances Case Of Frisco Mother Accused Of Killing Son

FRISCO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - Collin County prosecutors are on the verge of letting a grand jury hear the murder case against a Frisco woman accused of killing her son.

On Tuesday morning a judge found enough evidence against Pallavi Dhawan to let the investigation continue. Her attorney, David Finn, was allowed to question police and actually feels better about Dhawan's chances.

Frisco police arrested Dhwawn in January of this year for the death of her 10-year old son, Arnev. Dahwan reportedly admitting to killing the boy, according to Frisco Police.

"Officers asked if she had killed the child, and Mrs. Dhawan nodded her head yes," Frisco Sergeant Brad Merritt said, according to a report in  March 2014.

Finn disputes the claim that Dhawan ever admitted to the killing.

"That didn't happen. The police never asked her, 'did you do this?' That's pure fiction," said Finn. "The minute they kicked the door in and found Arnav, she was separated from her husband, handcuffed, thrown in the squad car, and Mirandized. That question was never asked."

Finn says the boy died from a preexisting medical condition and that police withheld the prior medical problems from the Medical Examiner.

In March the Medical Examiner's report said the cause of boy's death could not be determined.
