Josh Brent Jailed After Testing Positive For THC
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent was booked into Dallas' Lew Sterrett Justice Center on Thursday after a second positive drug test for marijuana.
Brent was tested for marijuana on June 19 and on June 25 a positive result from that test was confirmed, according to court documents. It's the second time Brent has tested positive for the drug since his arrest on an intoxication manslaughter charge.
On December 8, 2012, Brent was "intoxicated, speeding over the limit and failed to drive in a single lane," according to accident investigators when he flipped his 2007 Mercedes Benz with teammate Jerry Brown inside. Brown died at the scene. The arrest report showed Brent's blood-alcohol level 0.189 — more than twice the legal limit.
The judge has denied bond in this latest incident, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department.
Brent's trial for the vehicular manslaughter charge is scheduled to begin on August 23.
Brent is still part of the Cowboy's ninety man roster.
