DALLAS (CBSDFW) - According to Dallas Morning News sources, former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle had been betting on sports during his time with the Cowboys.

Randle was released from the team on November 3rd after starting the first six games of the season. He was then arrested for the fourth time in the last 17 months on Monday morning.

"All of that became apparent to us right during the season," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the Dallas Morning News last week at a Senior Bowl practice in Mobile, Ala. "Not before the season. It became real acute, a combination of things. Some issues ... became more apparent."

When asked if their was any evidence that Randle bet on NFL games, Jones said, "at this time, no."

The National Football League has a strict policy when it comes to betting on sports.  The "NFL opposes all forms of illegal gambling, as well as legal betting on NFL games or other professional, college or Olympic sports. Such activity negatively affects the interests, welfare and integrity of the NFL, its games, clubs, players and coaches, and diminishes public confidence in legitimate sport."
