Jones Admits Cowboys "Could Have Executed Better"

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -The Cowboys defense has had problems closing out games. It happened on the road against the Washington Redskins, the New England Patriots and most recently the last minute heart-breaker with the NY Giants.  When pressed on the effectiveness of defensive coach Rob Ryan's scheme Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan's New School morning show, "Nobody is more challenged in the secondary (than the Cowboys) and the difference can be the ability to close them down, and we've certainly had our problems in those areas."

When asked about what went wrong when the Cowboys were up by 12 points with 5:41 in the game Jones replied "We had that one booked, I did. We still and will for a long time have that in our heart and minds" He also adds that "we could have executed better. You've got to give Eli Manning a lot of credit [for the way the game played out.]"

"I would have liked to have been closed out right now," Jones said. "If we had won the last two games, that would have happened. But the reality of it is, they cut their guys, they're motivated to. Who is 'they'? They are the rest of the teams in the NFL. It shouldn't surprise us, here we are leading the league, and I'm not being facetious, but leading our division, but we got to fight it out, right down to the wire."

When asked if Coach Jason Garrett's job was in jeopardy Jones said "My answer is no. We're just getting started here."
