Is Claiborne's Career Over In Dallas?
IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) -- Cowboys cornerback Mo Claiborne followed up a poor performance with a season-ending one, tearing the patellar tendon in his left knee on Sunday.
But owner Jerry Jones, speaking with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan Tuesday, does not think Claiborne's career with the Cowboys is over.
"I see his future and I see a good one here with the Cowboys," said Jones.
Claiborne suffered the non-contact injury in the first quarter and did not return in the team's 38-17 win. The injury was initially diagnosed as a torn ACL.
Against the Rams two weeks back, Claiborne was targeted frequently, prompting Jones to admit that Claiborne has not met the team's expectations since drafting him No. 6 overall in 2012.
Jones says he received "four or five calls" from around the league warning him not to be "verbally negative" about Claiborne, who has elite talent.
Jones insists that Claiborne can still be a very good NFL player -- that's if he gets the needed repetition.
"He does need a lot of repetition. There's nothing wrong with that," said Jones. "He's just not had as much as we'd like him to have because of these injuries."
