Jones Says Murray On Track To Play Against Eagles

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - According to Jerry Jones, Demarco Murray is on track to return for the team's game on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

"It looks like that - we'll see how well he responds today," said Jones to Elf & Slater on 105.3 The Fan on Friday. "The key day was yesterday, he came back from the day before, which was his first day out. Usually that's a leveling off or setback day after you have the effects of your first day back. He didn't have that and practiced well. We'll see how he does here these next couple of days, but it looks like we'll have him."

Murray has missed six straight games since suffering a sprained foot in week 6 against Baltimore - and the Cowboys rushing attack has struggled.

Felix Jones, Phillip Tanner, and lance Dunbar have combined for only 3.4 yards per carry on the season - compared to Murray's 4.4.

On the season, the team has averaged an NFL worst 78.7 yards per game, totaling only 866 yards on 244 carries.

In contrast, their last opponent, the Washington Redskins, have totaled 1,799 yards rushing on the season. Rookie Alfred Morris alone has out-rushed the Cowboys, with 962 yards.

Another injury concern surrounds Miles Austin, who was injured in the second quarter of last week's loss the the Redskins.

"He certainly came down hard and kind of had a situation with his back and his entire upper legs and lower back, but I am a little encouraged by the way he's practicing this week," said Jones. "So I think we'll see a little bit more of Miles."

Though Dwayne Harris and Cole Beasley have shown flashes of being dependable options, Jones doesn't want to discount the importance of a healthy Austin on the Cowboys' roster.

"We want to get all we can get from Miles," said Jones. "He's the best route-runner that we have on the team. He's got a great rapport with Tony, and we can make a lot of yards with Miles Austin. I do not think that we need to shut the door on that possibility with Miles."
