Jerry Not Concerned By Raiders Exploring Move To San Antonio

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis recently met with several San Antonio officials about possibly moving the team to south Texas, according to a report.

MySanAntonio.com reports that Davis and two team lieutenants met with Henry Cisnerso, then-Mayor Julian Castro, and other city officials on the weekend of July 18.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who covets the San Antonio market,  isn't impressed -- and doesn't appear to be too concerned.

"I don't make a lot of this at all," Jones said on Tuesday in Oxnard. "My interest in San Antonio is because of how important it is to the Cowboys -- the history of having our training camp there and the fact that we've got such a tremendous fan base in San Antonio."

The Cowboys have held camp in San Antonio six times since 2002. But the cooler California weather has led the team to begin holding camp exclusively in Oxnard.

The Raiders, whose lease at O.co Coliseum expires after the 2014-15 season, could theoretically move to Texas as early as next season. That is, if 24 out of 32 NFL owners approve the relocation.

The Alamodome, where the Cowboys often held camp in past years, currently holds in the neighborhood of 65,000 fans. O.co Coliseum can accommodate 53,200 fans for football games.

But Raiders ownership isn't interested in a "Jerry World" type stadium. According to the report, Davis told city leaders that the team prefers a "small, intimate" stadium that he can place "a statue of his father in front of."

The move will not likely garner the support of Houston Texans owner Bob McNair. And Jones? It's pretty evident where he stands.
