Jones: Murray Out For Eagles; Ware's Status Uncertain

ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) --  Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray will not be available this Sunday when the team travels to Philadelphia, according to team owner Jerry Jones. The status of Pro Bowl DE DeMarcus Ware is uncertain.

Murray sprained his knee in the second quarter of Sunday's game against Washington and did not return.

"He's probably going to be out," said Jones on 105.3 The Fan's New School with Shan & RJ. "We'll miss him certainly this coming week and then we'll see from there."

With backup RB Lance Dunbar sidelined with a hamstring injury, Dallas will likely once again turn to rookie Joseph Randle. The Oklahoma State alum rushed for 17 yards on 11 carries with one TD, and had two receptions for 15 yards against Washington.

DeMarcus Ware, who has battled various injuries throughout the year, will likely be sidelined by a strain right quad. However, Jones didn't rule out the possibility of Ware being ready to on Sunday -- at least in a limited role.

"We'll be pretty conservative with that because we know how bad we're going to need DeMarcus down the road -- not that we don't need him against Philadelphia," said Jones. "With that in mind, I can't tell you. It could be that he has the ability to go and has the playing ability to go on a certain basis as early as this weekend against Philadelphia. On the other hand, we may want to be more conservative and make sure that thing gets in better shape."

If Ware is unable to play, the Dallas defensive line will be further hampered by injuries. The Dallas defense has already been forced to rely on names like Caesar Rayford, Kyle Wilford, and George Selvie.

So would Jones consider a mid-season trade to bolster the unit? The NFL trade deadline is Oct. 29, just two weeks from Tuesday.

"That could still happen," said Jones. "But we're not gonna be in a position and don't want to give up a high draft pick to get a defensive lineman."

Jones also confirmed the possibility that Jay Ratliff is done in Dallas.

"We've got a situation that's not positive as to him getting out on the field," said Jones. "We're going to see as we go through this week what we're going to do technically -- that's his roster status."
