Jones Admits Loss To Saints "Will Hang With Us"

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - The Cowboys loss to the New Orleans Saints is one that is hard to forget, admits Owner/General Manager Jerry Jones.

"That was one that will hang with us for a little while, but it's not the end of the world," said Jones on his weekly radio show on 105.3 The Fan.

But Jones remains optimistic saying "You've got to watch - really assessing where a team is at the halfway point of the season."  And with 6 games to go in the regular season, Jones thinks the Cowboys have a good chance at competing for the NFC East title.

"We've got things, with this team, that can compete with anybody. It's before us (division title) if we want to take it. It would be wrong to look at this past weekend (Saints) and say 'that's it - count us out'." Jones said.

Since the Denver game, the Cowboys offense has obviously struggled. When asked if that was a point of contention for the team, Jones replied "I think the real way to look at it is how far off the mark are we? We know that you can't have a game where you don't make third-down conversions. How far are we away from being acceptable in that area, hopefully better than acceptable? I don't think we're far away."
