Job Growth Continues To Surge In The Dallas-Fort Worth Area

According to the latest figures, released Jan. 2015, from U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the nation ended the year with 252,000 jobs added in December 2014; this is the best growth since 1999.

Professional and business service jobs such as accountants, consultants and architects accounted for 52,000 added positions, with an average of 61,000 jobs added per month for 2014. In December 2014, computer systems design and related services saw an increase of 9,000 jobs.

Another area of particular note is health care, which added 34,000 jobs in December. Overall employment growth for the year averaged 26,000 per month in 2014 and 17,000 per month in 2013.

When it comes to unemployment, Dallas is fairing very well in Texas and showing strong growth in comparison to the rest of the country. 

Unemployment rates have steadily improved with 5.0% in Sept. 2014, 4.8% in Oct. 2014, and 4.6% in Nov. 2014. A year ago (Nov. 2013), the unemployment rate for the Dallas-Ft. Worth-Arlington region was at 5.7%.
