Job Fair For Texas Veterans Being Held In Arlington

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Texas Veterans will be out in numbers at the Ballpark in Arlington on Thursday to participate in the "Hiring Red, White & You" statewide job fair.

The goal of the job fair, which is sponsored by the Texas Workforce Commission, is to "connect Texas veterans and their spouses with Texas employers who value the experience, discipline and other exceptional qualities inherent with a military background."

The job fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to all Texas employers and Texas veterans and their spouses.

Nearly 70 companies have registered for the event in Arlington, including AT&T, FedEx, Southwest Airlines, and a number of other local companies.

The initiative is a joint effort of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Texas Medical Center surgeon Dr. James Henry "Red" Duke, Jr., the Texas Veterans Commission, and the Texas Workforce Commission to address the employment needs of Texas veterans returning to the workforce.

A total of 27 job fairs will be hosted statewide on Thursday as part of the initiative.
