Jets Vs. Pats Is About Belichick Vs. Ryan
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) - Here we go again. Rex Ryan says Monday that the playoff game Sunday between the New York Jets and New England Patriots "is about Bill Belichick vs. Rex Ryan."
The brash Ryan adds that "it's personal" and he plans on being the best coach in that matchup when the teams walk off the field at Gillette Stadium.
Ryan says the Jets (12-5) and Patriots (14-2) are evenly matched from the players to the assistant coaches, but Belichick still holds the edge as the coach. He wants that to change, starting Sunday, and will raise his level against Belichick.
The teams split during the regular season, but Ryan says the Patriots' 45-3 blowout win at home last month was due to him making things too complicated for his team.
