FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's career has been a storybook of sorts. You can see why team owner Jerry Jones thinks it deserves a storybook ending.

It's apparently difficult, however, for Jerry to see it "ending'' at all.

Romo issued his "concession speech'' this week, moving aside to the No. 1 QB spot for rookie Dak Prescott. But Jones sees no finality there … like, ever.

"This is not 'goodbye,'' Jerry told the media Thursday in the corridors of The Star at Frisco. "I think Tony's got five years left of really competing for a Super Bowl. ... I have no plans for him not to be part of the Dallas Cowboys. Not a consideration. … I believe Tony will be the quarterback on a Super Bowl team. I believe that strongly."

Romo as a champion?

Romo as a Cowboy?

Romo forever?

Not all of this jives with reality. It's clear Romo wants to keep starting (for somebody, sometime), it's clear Dallas is ready to have Dak as its QB of the present and future, and it's clear that those two concepts are in conflict.

But this is a storybook. And today, Jerry Jones is its author.
