Jerry: NFL Getting Ray Rice Decision Right 'Second Time Around'
ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) -- Many have been critical of the NFL's handling of the Ray Rice case and domestic violence. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thinks the NFL has gotten it right -- on the second try.
Roger Goodell and the NFL suspended Rice indefinitely on Monday following the release of a video that showed the running back striking his then fiancee. The Ravens released Rice just hours before.
But the public was outraged after Goodell initially suspended Rice for two games. Jones admits the NFL botched the initial decision.
"We have in blocking terminology -- we have recovery," said Jones. "That's when an offensive lineman gets beat on the first move, but he has the athletic ability to recover and try to get it right on the second move. I know we're doing that and trying to get it as good as we can get it on the second time around. I think that's happening."

The NFL stiffened the penalties for domestic violence offenders last month, putting a minimum 6-game ban on first time offenders. Repeat offenders are subject to a lifetime ban from the NFL.
Jerry believes the NFL is on the right track in improving its stance against domestic violence.
"There's no question in my mind, the emphasis we have on spousal abuse in the NFL and the lack of tolerance for it. It's intolerable and will be adjudicated accordingly."
