Jerry Jones Says Garrett's Contract 'Not A Concern'
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- The debate rages on as to whether or not the Cowboys should extend offensive leaders Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray now or this offseason.
But another candidate for a contract extension is flying largely under the radar -- head coach Jason Garrett.
Despite guiding the Cowboys to an improbable 7-3 record, little is made of Garrett's expiring contract.
"It's a non-event for me," said owner Jerry Jones with the G-Bag Nation. "It hasn't been a concern of mine, and we haven't made it a concern for the club this year."

With a win against New York on Sunday night, Dallas would move to 8-3 for the first time since 2009, when the team finished 11-5 and won the NFC East under Wade Phillips.
The Cowboy have been patient with extending Garrett, though Jerry has long praised his head coach and talked about his bright future in the league.
Garrett himself has refused to add fuel to the fire, declining to answer questions about his deal. Jerry is taking a similar approach.
"This talk about these contracts, no matter who it is that has a pending contract, that's all for things to talk about," said Jones. "That has really no impact on my day."
Dallas will have many decisions to make now and through this offseason, as Murray, Bryant, Doug Free and Rolando McClain are among the team's potential free agents.
Status of Josh Brent Undecided
Jones says the Cowboys have not yet decided if Josh Brent will be active on Sunday in New York. Brent was added last week to the team's 53-man roster.
"That's a decision that Jason will make," said Jones. "Rod Marinelli will be the key input there for him, because Rod has got it going from motivation out there. The one's that have that best week of practice, it's a big counter when it comes to who's going to get that jersey to play on Sunday."
Jones says a "daily conversation" occurs about who will be active, which results in great competition in practice.
"You see some things are just really indicative of good teams. You can be in drills and you can see a big 330 pounds running after the ball 15 yards down the field. That's the kind of effort you are getting at practice sessions from these interior guys. That's a positive."
Jones also noted that Brent has sometimes gotten the best of his "All Pro" center Travis Frederick, driving him into the backfield.
