Jerry Jones: Jay-Z A 'Great Example' For Dez Bryant

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says the team is not worried about Dez Bryant off the field.

That confidence in their star receiver was evident in the team guaranteeing Bryant $45 million as part of the 5-year, $70 million deal he signed on Wednesday.

For one, Jones raved about Bryant's maturation since being drafted.

"No one breathing knows Dez better than me," said Jones on 105.3 The Fan's Shan & RJ Thursday morning.

The other factor -- Roc Nation's Jay-Z.

"Jay-Z certainly is a great example. He's obviously very astute -- not just talented -- but very astute," said Jones. "He has in his plan to really ask several people of different disciplines -- music, many different disciplines -- that are outstanding, then he wants to have them and advise them on how they handle their affairs. He's outstanding."

Jones says he's had the opportunity to spend personal time with Jay-Z, something that gives him confidence in Bryant's partnership with Roc Nation.

"If it's a step out of bounds with Dez, it's a step out of bounds with Roc Nation and Jay-Z. He doesn't want that to happen."

And while Jones was adamant that Jay-Z was not directly involved in the negotiations, he emphasized his role in helping Dez develop a "picture with off-the-field decisions" -- including his finances.

"Dez will listen to him. Why? We should all listen to him. He's had tremendous success apart from being a great talent."
