Jerry Jones Expects Same Gameplan From Eagles On Sunday
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- The Dallas Cowboys know a win on Sunday against division rival Philadelphia is a near must if they hope to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
And according to owner Jerry Jones, they also know exactly what Philadelphia will be trying to do to prevent that.
The two teams met on Thanksgiving Day, when the Eagles trounced the Cowboys 33-10 in front of a national audience.
"Why wouldn't you if you're Philadelphia play us just exactly like you played us before," said Jones with the G-Bag Nation on 105.3 The Fan. "They kicked our butt."
The Eagles' game plan included limiting the league's leading rusher DeMarco Murray while applying pressure on QB Tony Romo. It worked.
Murray was held to a season low 73 yards rushing on 20 attempts. Romo was sacked four times and threw two interceptions.
If Dallas hopes to prevent a similar outcome, the offense might need to take more chances downfield to loosen up the defense.
"Offensively, if they're going to limit our run early, then there's not but one choice," said Jones. "You don't have but one choice in football -- that is to make them get off that and get back. They won't do it if you don't make them."
Jerry Joins The Nation
By kickoff on Sunday, Dallas will have had 10 days to recover since last Thursday's game. That's radically different from two weeks back, when Dallas played a Sunday night road game in New York before returning home for the Thanksgiving Day game.
Romo believes the additional time will have the Cowboys at their best on Sunday. Jones agrees.
"Now we've had time to practice. Let's execute."
