Jerry Jones: Doug Free Out 3-4 Weeks With Foot Fracture

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says right tackle Doug Free will miss three to four weeks with a right foot fracture.

Free left Sunday's win over the Seahawks with 3:23 remaining.

"It's usually a 3 to 4 week injury," said Jones with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan. "Because of the position he plays, which is not a position that would align to compensate some, he might be back sooner."

Free told Cowboys coaches on Monday morning that he believes he can play, according to 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher. But Jones believes that tackle Jermey Parnell will likely fill in for Free against the Giants this week.

"We've got Parnell there that is dealing with some ribs, but still really held a good account of himself the few plays he played in the game. Got a lot of confidence in him."

Jones called Free the "daddy in that offensive line room," but also noted that Parnell is talented enough to keep the Cowboys running game at a high level.

"Parnell is capable of coming in and playing real well too," said Jones. "He's got a lot of talent. He's just go to not make mistakes."

The team is also hesitant to move rookie right guard Zack Martin to tackle.

The team will continue to look for options currently on the team's practice squad and on the streets, but Jones doesn't believe there are any impact players available.
