Jerry Jones: Cowboys In-Line With NFL On Spillman

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Cowboys safety CJ Spillman remains with the team as police investigate his role in an alleged sexual assault last month in Grapevine.

Jerry Jones believes the team's actions are justified and are fully in-line with the league's new policies.

"You have to be careful with accusations in these types of situations because they don't tell the full story," said Jones with the G-Bag Nation on 105.3 The Fan. "When someone is officially charged or arrested, then it becomes a different situation for us. I think ultimately -- in my view -- that would be in line with anything the league is doing or planning to do regarding physical abuse or sexual assault investigations."

Jones said that Spillman will remain a full-time member of the team, participating in practice and games, until something occurs -- such as an arrest.

Though the league has faced intense scrutiny in recent weeks for mishandling the Ray Rice and Greg Hardy cases, Jones wants to make it clear -- this case is completely different.

"The notable ones around the league, the one that's created a lot of sensitivity in the league, those have had arrests involved. They're not just an allegation or an accusation."

Grapevine police spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling said Thursday that there are no arrests pending in the case. However, that could change pending the completed investigation.

Until then, the Jones is adamant that the team will not act on accusation.
