Jerry Jones Clarifies 'Moral Victory' Statement
ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) -- Minutes after the Cowboys fell to the Broncos on Sunday at AT&T Stadium, owner and GM Jerry Jones deemed the team's 51-48 loss a "moral victory".
Many fans, players, and even his son -- Stephen Jones -- disagreed with the statement, saying there are no moral victories in sports. (New School's Shan Shariff disagrees)
Jones clarified his statement in his weekly visit on 105.3 The Fan's New School with Shan & RJ, preferring to express his opinion in a slightly different manner.
"The promise of things to come was brighter when that game was finished the other day than when it started," said Jones. "The promise was because we see a lot coming together with our offense -- with Tony [Romo]."

In the game, Romo threw for a team record 506 yards and added five touchdowns as the Cowboys offense produced 48 points.
But the defense was unable to corral Peyton Manning and the Broncos, who racked up 517 yards of offense as Manning completed 33 of 42 passes.
"We knew from San Diego we had holes in our defense, but we can have the opportunity to get some guys playing better and be a better defense," said Jones.
Jones compared the NFL to NCAA football, saying that one loss in college can ruin a team's chances of competing for a championship. That's just not true in the NFL, says Jones.
"I think you can have ultimately a zero day -- which a loss is -- but by the same token have improved the promise ahead."
