Jerry Jones: Bryant "Can Aspire To Be" Megatron
ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) -- As the Cowboys prepare for a Week 8 matchup with the Lions, the comparisons between Dez Bryant and Calvin Johnson have already begun.
"You may have one and two of the top receivers in the league right there," said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on 105.3 The Fan's New School with Shan & RJ.

Few deny that Johnson and Bryant are elite pass-catchers.
Bryant reeled in 8 catches for 110 yards in Sunday's 17-3 win over the Eagles.
Johnson enjoyed the best game of his season, catching 9 balls for 155 yards and two touchdowns.
Both receivers have six touchdowns on the season, though Bryant's 569 reception yards far exceed that of Johnson (492 yards). Johnson did however miss one game this season with a nagging knee injury.
"I think that Johnson at Detroit has got to be the best receiver...the best guy to go to right now in the league," said Jones. "Dez can aspire to be that and has a chance to be that. Dez does things better than he does, but the guy has great size."
Jones points to an opportunity just before the half in Philadelphia, when Bryant had the opportunity to bring down a Hail Mary pass in the endzone. Bryant slightly mistimed his jump, allowing the defensive back to come down with the hopeful ball.
"It just seems like [Johnson] makes those kinds of plays."
Cowboys Not Likely To Make Deadline Trade
Jones also responded to questions regarding the Cowboys desire to make a deadline trade.
The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Cowboys were interested in upgrading the running back position - a notion Jones has since denied.
"If you do not get a call, you're going to have a tough time to make a trade," said Jones. "This sitting around saying, 'What if...what if...? I'll give my 2017 three for his tackle sitting over there'. You really are wasting a lot of time."
Jones doesn't anticipate spending much time on the phones, though the team does internally discuss possibilities from time-to-time.
One reason a trade is unlikely to happen for the Cowboys: the salary cap.

When a player is traded before his contract has ended, any remaining bonus money accelerates immediately and counts against the cap. In other words, the team trading away the player doesn't get cap relief -- it suffers a cap penalty.
"There are a lot of teams -- we're one of them -- that really can't afford to go out there and bring a lot of bonus forward into 2013."
So, is it fair to say that the Cowboys will not make a trade before the Oct. 29 trade deadline?
"I don't want to say never, but certainly I'm not spending a lot of time trying to trade into a defensive lineman."
