Jerry Jones: I've Never Seen Romo Play Better
ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) -- Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo shocked everyone this offseason when he claimed he would return from surgery "better than ever'.
Though the offensive star of the Cowboys 5-1 start is undoubtedly DeMarco Murray, that offseason statement doesn't sound so crazy anymore.
"I don't know that I can say I've ever seen him play better," said Jerry Jones with the G-Bag Nation on 105.3 The Fan. "We've seen him certainly do what Romo does, and that is instinctively make plays. We're seeing him protect the ball, and I know for a fact that he's bought into his working and the coordination he has to have with [Scott Linehan] -- his play caller."
The 34-year-old took time to recover from December surgery for a herniated disk. Against San Francisco in the opener, he didn't look like himself, throwing three interceptions and taking three sacks.
But over the last five games (all wins), Romo has completed 70 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns to two interceptions.
Just for comparison, Romo has never completed better than 69.5 percent of passes in his career.
"I would agree that that statement that he made in camp -- certainly these last three or four ball games -- he's starting to ratify that statement."
