Jerry Jones Admits To Tearing Up After Expansion Loss To Texans
ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) -- Jerry Jones admits to tearing up three times in his 25 years as owner of the Dallas Cowboys.
The first came in 1995, when the Cowboys lost to Deion Sanders and the 49ers in the NFC Championship game. The loss prevented Dallas from winning its third straight Super Bowl.
The second? He can't recall.
The third. That's something he'll relive as the Texans come to Dallas this Sunday.
"The third time was the opening day loss to the Houston Texans -- their first game ever down in Houston," said Jones on 105.3 The Fan. "It was because we had such a base of fans. We'd go down there when they were the Oilers and half the stands would be Cowboys fans."

Though Dallas was just 5-11 in the previous season, they entered the 2002 season opener as heavy favorites over Houston and first overall pick David Carr. But Carr outdueled Quincy Carter, throwing for two touchdowns and leading Houston to a 19-10 win.
"That loss killed us. That'll always be there for me," said Jones.
Both teams enter Sunday's game at 3-1, this just one season after Houston finished a league worst 2-14.
The Cowboys opened the week as 4.5-point favorites, but Jones understands that Dallas cannot afford to take the Texans lightly.
"It's Texas and it's got all the trappings."
