Jailed Corsicana Minister Charged Again With Sexual Assault Of A Child
CORSICANA (CBSDFW.COM) – A Corsicana minister already jailed for aggravated sexual assault of a child has been charged with three more counts in connection with the same investigation, Police Chief Randy Bratton said Saturday.
Gary Welch, 42, was arrested on March 19 and jailed with $150,000 bond. The new warrants issued Saturday afternoon are for two counts of sexual assault of a child and another count of indecency of a child by sexual contact.
This increases Welch's bond to $450,000, Bratton said.
The chief said the new charges are "in connection with the original investigation and no new victims have been identified at this time."
After his arrest Monday, Bratton said the alleged victim is 16-years-old and told police that Welch had sexually assaulted her since 2009.
In a news release issued last week, police said Welch works as a Minister to Students at Northside Baptist Church in Corsicana.
An investigation is ongoing, Bratton said. Anyone with information regarding the case are asked to contact Detecive Jason Grant at 903.654.4913 or the Corsicana Police Department at 903.654.4902.
