JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (105.3 THE FAN/AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired 76-year-old Monte Kiffin as a defensive assistant. Kiffin worked with the team during the 2015 offseason and helped coach Gus Bradley earlier this year during his search for a new defensive coordinator.

Now, Kiffin will be more involved.

Kiffin is entering his 50th year of coaching, with 28 years of NFL experience and 21 years in the college ranks. He was Tampa Bay's defensive coordinator from 1996-2008, winning a Super Bowl in the 2002 season. He worked in 2012 and 2013 as the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator before being demoted to a "special assistant" role under longtime friend and former pupil Rod Marinelli.

The defensive coaching icon's contract was then not renewed in 2015.

Jacksonville also hired John Benton as assistant offensive line coach and John Donovan as offensive quality control coach.

Benton joins the Jaguars after a two-year stint as Miami Dolphins offensive line coach. Donovan joins the Jaguars with 19 years of collegiate coaching experience, including the last two as Penn State's offensive coordinator and tight ends coach.
