Italy Police Looking For Person Responsible In Fatal Hit-And-Run

ITALY (CBSDFW.COM) – Police are searching for the person responsible for a fatal hit and run on Monday night near Interstate 35E and Highway 34.

Italy Police responded to an emergency call reporting an unresponsive man lying in the outside lane of traffic near the right shoulder of Interstate 35 at about 9 p.m. Monday, Italy police said.

There was no identification on the victim and a white Chevrolet Astro van was abandoned near the scene. Police believe it may belong to the victim.

The Milford Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and the Ellis County Sheriff's office helped Italy Police investigate and guide traffic.

The man was declared dead by a justice of the peace at 9:30 p.m. His identity has not been released.

Italy Police ask anyone with information about the suspected hit-and-run to call Chief Diron Hill at 972.483.6414.
