Reports are coming out of Oxnard that Tony Romo is, well, sporting a slightly more robust build.  The Cowboys list Romo at 236 lbs to start training camp, a far cry from the 219 lbs he was listed at to begin last season.  But what IS out of shape for an NFL quarterback?

Here is the list of every starting QB in the NFL.  The one's in RED are the players that weight the same or more than Romo, and the one's in BLUE are the players that are his same height.

Aaron Rodgers - 6'2", 225 lbs

Drew Brees - 6'0", 209 lbs

Tom Brady - 6'4", 220 lbs

Peyton Manning - 6'5", 230 lbs

Joe Flacco - 6'6", 245 lbs

Ben Roethlisberger - 6'5", 241 lbs

Matt Ryan - 6'4", 217 lbs

Matthew Stafford - 6'3", 232 lbs

RG3 - 6'2", 217 lbs

Russell Wilson - 5'11", 206 lbs

Eli Manning - 6'4", 218 lbs

Cam Newton - 6'5", 245 lbs

Michael Vick - 6'0", 215 lbs

Colin Kaepernick - 6'4", 230 lbs

Sam Bradford - 6'4", 224 lbs

Jay Cutler - 6'3", 220 lbs

Andrew Luck - 6'4", 239 lbs

Mark Sanchez - 6'2", 225 lbs

Josh Freeman - 6'6", 240 lbs

Carson Palmer - 6'5", 235 lbs

Philip Rivers - 6'5", 228 lbs

Alex Smith - 6'4", 217 lbs

Brandon Weeden - 6'3", 220 lbs

Ryan Tannehill - 6'4", 222 lbs

EJ Manuel - 6'4", 237 lbs

Andy Dalton - 6'2", 220 lbs

Jake Locker - 6'3", 234 lbs

Matt Schaub - 6'5", 240 lbs

Blaine Gabbert - 6'4", 235 lbs

Matt Flynn - 6'2", 225 lbs

Christian Ponder - 6'2", 229 lbs

You'll note that ALL of the RED players who are listed heavier than Tony Romo are also at least 2 inches taller than him...Although there's a good mix of pocket passing, statue-esque types (Roethlisberger, Flacco, Schaub, Luck) and dual threat QBs (Cam, Manuel, Freeman).

There are 6 QBs in the league who stand at Romo's height...none of whom weigh as much as Tony Romo.  The average size of a player who is 6'2" playing QB in the NFL is 223 lbs.  While he's not there yet, it's reasonable to believe that Romo could shed those 13 extra pounds by the time training camp concludes.

FOR THE RECORD : The average NFL QB stands at 6'3" and weighs 227 lbs.  Pro Football Reference has Romo listed at 219 lbs.  NFL.com, ESPN.com, and DallasCowboys.com all have him listed at 236 lbs.
