Rise In Domestic Violence
The recession may be behind a dramatic jump in calls to a north Texas program for victims of domestic violence.Calls to Open Arms have been doubling for each of the last four quarters. Program Director LouAnn Pressler says callers are mentioning financial pressures as the trigger for violence. Many victims call Open Arms in search of help. The program offers housing and counseling for the victims.
