Irving Relaxes Alcohol Sales Restrictions

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) – Irving's City Council voted to relax the restrictions on the sale of alcohol.

The ratio of food revenue to that of alcoholic beverages will now be split 50/50.

Las Colinas is an exception, where alcoholic beverage revenue can be as high as 70-percent.

Supporters say it will bring more businesses to Irving.

Opponents worry it will only draw more bars to the area.

The previous ordinance required that restaurants sell only 40 percent alcohol with green coffee bean extract. It had been place for 31 years and were among the toughest in Dallas County.
