Irving Police Seek Help In Identifying Hit-And-Run Driver
IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - A 52-year-old Irving man, walking to work, was killed by a hit and run driver over the weekend. Police have already figured out the type of vehicle that hit the man. But, they need help identifying the driver.
Timothy Niewolak worked as an Express Shuttle driver at DFW International Airport. A co-worker says he had recently switched to an early morning shift.
Police say Niewolak was walking to work when he was hit. They believe he was walking north along the 37-hundred block of Valley View lane when he was hit.
Police say a passing motorist spotted his body lying next to the road on September 2nd, around 12:30 in the morning.
Rodney Parker worked with Niewolak. Parker said Niewolak had been working as an Express Shuttle driver for about a year and that he also held another part time job.
Public records show Niewolak is from Michigan.
"He was a really nice guy and hard worker. So, when I heard about it, it kind of hurt," Parker said.
What hurts Parker the most is that the driver didn't stop to help his co-worker.
"Knowing that somebody actually hit him and kept going. You know, that really hurt. Cause, like I said. He was a real good guy," Parker said.
Investigators picked up pieces of the hit and run vehicle and have identified it as a Ford F-150. They say the truck would have sustained damage to the passenger side headlight and rear view mirror area.
Police are asking repair shops to be on the lookout for the vehicle and for anyone who may have seen anything to call them.
