IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Irving responded to the scene of a motel shooting early Wednesday morning. The call came in at around 3:30 a.m. from a man walking outside of the motel who said that he was shot.

Officers went room to room, searching for possible suspects at the extended stay Crossland Economy Studios, located near the intersection of Walnut Hill Lane and Belt Line Road.

According to authorities, one man stated that he was hit by gunfire while in the parking lot of the motel, adding that the shots seemed to come from one of the motel rooms. That victim hid underneath a car and had to be pulled out. The man was taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim is expected to survive, but he is reportedly not cooperating with the police investigation.

"I walk out of my apartment and kind of walk by the room to see if I can hear anything," recalled neighbor Alex Ryan. "One of the chicks over there was saying she could hear someone saying, 'No, stop, please, don't' and I walk back to my apartment, and not even two seconds later -- bam, bam bam -- at least two, three gunshots, loud. And I was just like, what the heck?"

Police evacuated the motel and ultimately took one person into custody.

"I've lived an up-and-down life so, you know, I've seen a lot of crazy things," Ryan added. "But even still, you never get used to stuff like this."
