Irving Homeowners Think Earthquakes, Not Rain, Caused Landslide

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) – Residents in one Irving neighborhood are refuting claims that a massive landslide inside their gated community was caused by excessive rainfall and not earthquakes.
The apparent landslide is on 3100 block of University Park Lane.
The City of Irving has responded in a statement saying, "Irving staff looked at the site. They say it's not earthquake-related. It's a slope failure caused by excessive rainfall."
Neighbors like Cathy Wallace aren't buying that.
Wallace said, "There is so much denial wrapped around the earthquake issue in Irving."
Doug Griffith, the president of the home owners association also chimed in on the debate of what caused the landslide saying, "We don't yet know what the cause of the slides are until we get an expert out here."
According to him that could take some time as the soil needs to dry out before any crews will get to work on it.
