Injured Bears DT Melton Arrested At Grapevine Bar
GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton has been arrested at a Grapevine bar and charged with assault and public intoxication.
Grapevine police Sgt. Robert Eberling says Melton was arrested at 1:45 a.m. CST on Sunday at Chill Sports Bar after becoming belligerent and refusing to leave. According to police, Melton allegedly punched the restaurant manager in the face and bit him on the arm. Four restaurant security and staff members had to hold Melton on the ground until police arrived. Melton was freed after posting $1,000 bond on the assault charge and $210 on the public intoxication count.
The restaurant manager wasn't seriously hurt. A message left with the bar wasn't immediately returned.
Melton is a former Texas standout who's from Grapevine. He's out for the season after tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament Sept. 22 against Pittsburgh.
Bears officials and agent Jordan Woy both said they were seeking more information about the incident.
